United States Figure Skating “Learn to Skate” Basic Skills

Missoula Figure Skating Club Skating Schools

All Missoula Figure Skating Club Classes include 10 classes.  Each session starts with a “fun day” where the students work informally with coaches to ensure proper placement in classes.  Weeks 2-9 are instructional sessions where the students receive ½ hour of instruction from an instructor in a low instructor/student ratio setting and then have 20 minutes of practice time with coaches on the ice helping students practice.

Upon completion of the Basic 1 - 8 levels, skaters will have the basic knowledge of the sport enabling them to advance to the more specialized areas of skating such as ice dancing, figure skating, synchronized team skating and hockey.  Includes a USFS “Basic Skills” membership.

Learn to Skate Basic Skills Competitor's Ice

New to competition? Learn to Skate Basic Skills Competitors Club Ice is perfect for you! Competitors Club Ice is four 30-minute sessions for Basic Skills skaters to practice programs to music with an MFSC approved coach. Skaters will be preparing for our second annual Glacier Challenge Friday-Saturday, March 18-20, 2011. Participants will be assigned an MFSC approved coach. Skaters may request 1-2 coaches, however, there is no guarantee of final placement. Your skater will most likely need more time to practice their skills/programs on Public Skate, Club Ice, and/or Off-ice. Coaches’ private lesson rates apply on all other skating and/or off-ice sessions. Please ask your coach for more information. Coaching assignment priority will be given to Basic Skills students not already skating, or not eligible to skate, on MFSC club ice. You must be a current Learn to Skate Basic Skills or MFSC member to participate.

Competitors Ice starts each season in February to prepare for our annual competition Glacier Challenge. Please check back at that time for registration.
