showcase on ice 2023: big broadway revue - club skaters
Click the tabs below to get important information about this year's showcase! Registration via DaySmart will begin this week!
2024 Showcase on Ice Directors:
On Ice: Caspen Black, caspenblack@gmail.com, and Anna Blair, coachannablair@gmail.com
Off Ice: Emily Weiler, (406) 531-4485, weiler.emily@gmail.com
Showcase on Ice Governing Principles:
1. The Showcase Directors reserve the right to move skaters, combine skaters and create skating numbers as they feel necessary to create the highest quality, most entertaining show possible.
2. Showcase on Ice is a skating opportunity, but it is also one of the club’s fundraising opportunities. Please help with volunteer and fundraising opportunities that coincide with Showcase on Ice to ensure both the success of the show and MFSC operations.
3. Skaters may sign up to perform only one solo/duet/triplet, but can also add on the Adult Number (adults only) and/or the Dance Number. In the past we've done an opening and closing number, this year it will be curtain calls instead.
4. Skaters may be selected at the Director's discretion to skate in “transitional” numbers. Skaters may be asked to perform at any time even spur of the moment if necessary to make the show flow or to take up time while technical difficulties are worked out. Some of the transitional numbers are developed at the last minute. For those numbers the Showcase Director will choose the skaters in combinations that work best. Transitional number skaters will be selected based on performance needs for the number not skill or age. There is no charge for doing transitional numbers.
5. To be eligible for Showcase on Ice, skaters must have no outstanding debt owed to MFSC as of the Performance.

Missoula Figure Skating Club member skaters are eligible for the following performance numbers in the 2024 Showcase on Ice, to be held Saturday, May 4th. Skaters must meet the specified qualifications by the first practice in order to skate in each particular number. Performance Fees may be refunded if skaters sign up for a certain number, but do not meet the specific qualifications by the first practice.
Club skaters can participate in LTS numbers too: for example, if you are a Basic 5 level Club skater that does not participate in the Learn to Skate program, but does skate on Club Ice, you may participate in the group number at your skating level. Visit the LTS page for information on their groups.
Costumes will be determined after we know how many skaters are doing groups. We have many resources to keep costumes cost effective, so we'll keep group costume costs low and are happy to assist soloists and small groups with their desired costumes too.
Requirements:
Any skater who is a member of the Missoula Figure Skating Club is eligible to sign-up for Club Numbers if they meet the specified requirements. Please see below for more information on eligibility according to the skater’s skating level. All soloists, duets, trios, quartets and quintets must also participate in one Club or LTS group number. Club numbers are opening, mid-show, closing, adult, or coaches. See LTS info for eligible group numbers.
Rehearsals:
Solos, Duets, Trios, Quartets, Quintets and Dance numbers do not have specified rehearsal times. Practice for these numbers takes place on Club Ice, Open Figure Skating Sessions, Public Skate sessions, or off-ice. It is up to these skaters to arrange for their own coaching and choreography. The Dance number is arranged on club ice and/or public skate sessions, exact times TBD.
Solos $35
Club skaters who have passed their Pre-Preliminary Moves in the Field or Adult Pre-Bronze Moves in the Field test are eligible for solos. Solo skaters will select their music from the list of musicals on a first come, first served basis. If a song from one of the chosen musicals is not already listed, it can be written in. They are responsible for their own choreography and costume (costume must be approved by director). Solo eligible skaters may choose to do a duet, trio, quartet or quintet in lieu of their solo.
Duet, Trio, Quartet, Quintet $35
Club skaters who have passed Basic 3 but have not passed their Pre-Preliminary or Adult Pre-Bronze Moves in the Field test are eligible for a duet, trio, quartet or quintet. Skaters interested in performing in such a number shall choose from the list of music on a first come, first served basis. If a song from one of the chosen musicals is not already listed, it can be written in. Choreography and costumes are the responsibility of the skaters and should be coordinated with the director. The events committee is happy to assist you with the costume process, depending on what you would like to wear. We have resources that can make it very cost effective.
